Unprofessional, Abysmal Work - Buyer Beware

It was a disaster on my last visit. Reyna cut a deal with the insurance company to repair my vehicle. Click on Gallery to see the photos of the agreement, final invoice and supplemental photos as evidence. Reyna's shop butchered the job. I didn't get what was on the estimate agreed upon by Reyna and the insurance company, because Reyna pressured me into doing things his way. Every time I told him that I wanted what was on the estimate, he continued to complain that he wasn't making any money on the job.

Reyna got really upset after I sent a text explaining that his electrician cost me another 330.00 to have a dealership put my column back together. Reyna took responsibility with a response of, "I did it." Instead of trying to make it right, Reyna told me to go find another body shop. Furthermore, my vehicle ran fine until Reyna started cutting wires. I drove it to his shop on two separate occasions. The first was to get the estimate. The second was to drop it off for the scheduled work. I had to have the vehicle towed off of Reyna's lot after he completed his butcher work.

It is not a stretch to assume that Reyna opened the column and attempted to repair the wiring to save a dollar. As previously stated, the truck started and drove fine until these wires were repaired. It is my belief that whoever repaired the wires cut them with the battery still engaged. This sent the circuit to ground, which activated the anti-theft system on the BCM. The column was opened in an effort to troubleshoot the problem. Note the damage from being pried open. The mistake by Reyna cost me 1531.85 out of pocket. I had to have my vehicle towed off his lot to a dealer.

Reyna was upset over my complaint and told me to find another body shop. He sent this in the form of a TEXT. My complaint was legitimate. I have found another shop to clean up Reyna's sloppy work. I then took a harder look at the entirety of the job with exception of pulling the door panels.

These are the problems I found:

1.    I did not receive or the work was not performed as highlighted in the attached photos.

2.    I was not consulted on the exchange of my battery, which was under warranty. Reyna used it as a core for an inferior battery in an attempt to cover his rear.

3.    I provided the hinge pins and was not given a credit. Instead, they were rolled into the invoice somehow. His people didn't use the correct washers that were provided in the kit. Instead, you will see the washers used. The door was wobbling when I got the vehicle back. I had to remove the door to clean up the overspray mess Reyna left for me. I also had to buy a new set up hinge pins and replace them.

4.    Reyna told me that it cost him 600 for the trim panel repair, which was excellently done. I would give these guys a stellar review. Reyna charged me 731.25 under the heading of miscellaneous. These panels were to have been replaced. He kept after me until I agreed. Then he got a surprise when he got his invoice for the panel repair. One would think to ask what the cost would be and not assume on someone else's behalf. To add insult to injury, Reyna charged me a 21.89% markup. It seems that he can complain, but I cannot. Irony. I guess he expected to shave a little more profit off a repair instead of replacement and it backfired.

5.    Reyna finally got me to agree to allow him to repair the door shells instead of replacing the rear as prescribed in the estimate. I asked him to remove the molding the front door since it was loose at the front and re-tape/replace as per the estimate. Both were supposed to have been pulled per the estimate. He pulled the molding and some of the paint was removed. Instead of sanding it down and filling the voids, he primed and painted over huge recesses. I pointed that out. He said you won't see it.

6.    The bumpers, lights, grille, back quarter window, etc. were to be removed during painting and replaced. This never happened. He shaved more time cutting corners for a few bucks. See the photos. Reyna didn't even bother to paint the body behind the rear wheel. Reyna cut every corner imaginable.

7.    I was supposed to get a new Child Safety Lock sticker for the door. as per the estimate Reyna's shop masked it off and painted around and over it. -Butchered the job again for a 24 dollar sticker.

8.    I noticed my LED light in the door wasn't working, so I tried to pull the light. It was much tighter than I recall. I got it out only to find that it was duct taped from the backside. I'm afraid to pull the panels. I'm so disgusted with Reyna's work.

9.    Reyna asked me if I wanted to replace the running board with a hole in it. Of course I did. I told him the estimate included the running board. I suppose that he was going to pocket the money on that too. I guess he expected me to just accept the hole so he could shave a few more dollars.

10.  What really got me off center was when he told he had to move money around on the job, because he wasn't making anything on my job. I told him to subrogate the insurance claim. He didn't want to. He told me that he had to charge off work on my vehicle to other customers to make up the loss. I wouldn't want to be one of those customers. I suspect that he didn't want to subrogate, because the insurance company would look at his numbers and work as fraud.

11.  Reyna botched door hinge job and broke a kick panel. It cost me more money to repair Reyna’s lousy work. Reviews the photos of the door hinge. It was a mess. It took two people over 5 hours to remove the door, clean up the overspray, replace the hinges and put the door back.

12.  Reyna removed the rock guard from the hood. When it was replaced, two grommets were missing. I had to contact the manufacturer and order new ones before the guard rubbed off the paint.

13.  The fender flares on the vehicle were new and undamaged. They were damaged with some sort of chemical when I got the vehicle back. I had to repaint them.

14.  Reyna made a week attempt to smooth out the dent on inside of the back door. It appeared to be hammered and the paint was pounded off. Reyna didn’t even bother to put primer over it. Disgusting.

15.  There are was looks like runs in the paint around the molding where Reyna decided I wouldn’t see the missing paint.

16.  The bondo is now cracking where Reyna made a complete mess of it. It is rough with scratches. Reyna didn’t bother to even sand it smooth. Reyna just painted over it.

17.  I was supposed to get a new weather strip on the back door. That didn’t happen. Reyna shaved a little more money for himself. This was in the estimate and to be replaced.

When you agree to a contract and don't deliver, it is breach of contract. When you charge the insurance for things that didn't happen and for parts not used, it's insurance fraud. When you charge other customers more to make up for loss on another job, it's not just poor ethics, it's theft.

I got ripped off. I do not believe Reyna runs a trust worthy or honest shop. I wouldn't take my bicycle to him.

09-24-2023  I just discovered that the molding that was supposed to be re-taped and reinstalled was never re-taped. It was just stuck back on the vehicle and is now falling off.
